How To Repair a Bent ASV Lever

ASV Levers are warranted against breakage, but not bending. If you have bent your ASV lever, you can bend it back into shape. Because our levers are all made from 6061 aluminum alloy, you can bend them back into shape without breaking. Please note; Even if you do break your lever while trying to bend it back into shape, ASV will still replace the lever under our warranty program.

There are two parts to brake lever and three parts to universal clutch levers;

The Blade (The long part your fingers touch)
The Knee (The short part that bolts into your perch or master cylinder)
The Perch* (The part that clamps a clutch lever to the handlebar - front brake do not use a perch)

These instructions will show how to repair a blade and knee separately.

To repair a bent blade, follow these steps

Step 1: Keep the lever on your bike, take a large socket 17mm or larger and put in between your lever and your grip. (as shown in photo 1)

Step 2: Take a closed end wrench 20mm or larger and slide the closed end down the lever blade and use it to bend the lever back into shape. (See Photos 1-2)

If for any reason you can not get the lever bent back into the correct shape or you are not happy with how the lever bends back, you can send the lever back to ASV for repair under warranty. Click here for warranty info>> WARRANTY

To repair a bent knee

If your knee is bent at the area near the perch or master cylinder (photo 3) you may be able to repair it. If it bent at the blade pivot, please return the complete lever back to ASV for warranty repair or replacement. Click here for warranty info>> WARRANTY

You will need a bench vise to repair a bent knee.

Step 1: First remove the lever from the perch. Take a small rag or cloth and wrap it around the knee in the area you need to grip it or hold it. Mount the knee into a bench vise using the rag to protect the knee from getting scratched. (See photo 4)

Step 2: Rotate the lever blade and use it to bend the knee back into shape. (See Photos 5-6)

If for any reason you cannot get the knee bent back into the correct shape and working properly or you are not happy with how the lever is working after the repair, you can send the lever back to ASV for repair under warranty. Click here for warranty info>> WARRANTY
