UNIVERSAL BRAKE (C/5 & F-1 Series)
Remove stock lever from master cylinder. Add a small amount of grease to the part of the ASV
lever that engages your master cylinder (the rounded nub that has ASV logo engraved). Install
ASV lever using the stock bolt and return spring (RM and CR models only). After lever is
installed, adjust the reach by loosening the acorn nut on the lever and adjusting the set screw
to your desired reach. Be sure to re-tighten the acorn nut so it does not come loose or fall off.
Your stock dust cover will cover your new ASV lever (some minor trimming of your dust cover may be
required for a perfect fit).

Remove stock lever from master cylinder. Install ASV lever using all the stock hardware,
including the barrel inserted into the stock lever that the plunger rod goes through. After lever
is installed, adjust the reach on the master-cylinder all the way in and use the reach adjust on your
ASV lever to adjust reach. Adjust the reach by loosening the acorn nut on the lever and adjusting
the set screw to your desired reach. Be sure to re-tighten the acorn nut so it does not come loose
or fall off. Your stock dust cover will cover your new ASV lever (some minor trimming of your dust
cover may be required for a perfect fit).

Remove stock lever from master cylinder. Even though it’s difficult, the plunger rod/barrel will
remove from the stock lever with force. Install ASV lever using all the stock hardware, including
the barrel attached to the plunger rod. After lever is installed, adjust the reach on the master-cylinder
all the way in and use the reach adjust on your ASV lever to adjust reach. Adjust the reach by loosening
the acorn nut on the lever and adjusting the set screw to your desired reach. Be sure to re-tighten the
acorn nut so it does not come loose or fall off. Your stock dust cover will cover your new ASV lever
(some minor trimming of your dust cover may be required for a perfect fit

Remove stock clutch assembly, including perch. ASV lever will not fit into
your stock perch unless you have a Honda CR-type perch or aftermarket quick-
adjust perch that uses a CR-type lever. Install ASV lever and perch to handlebar.
Install cable into perch and lever. Be sure your clutch has some free play that
can be adjusted by the perch cable adjuster. If you have too much play or not enough,
you may need to adjust the cable free-play barrel located in the middle of your clutch
cable. You may also have one located near the engine where the clutch cable enters the
cases. After lever is installed, adjust the reach by loosening the acorn nut on the lever
and adjusting the set screw to your desired reach. Be sure to re-tighten the acorn nut so
it does not come loose or fall off. Your stock dust cover will cover your new ASV lever
(some minor trimming or use of small zip ties on your dust cover may be required for a perfect fit).

“Quick Adjuster” to perch. Be sure slot on adjuster bolt is facing “UP” or it will not insert into
perch. Unscrew top side of dust cover to allow cable to mount. Install cable into perch and lever.
Be sure your clutch has some free play that can be adjusted by the quick adjuster. If you have too
much play or not enough, you may need to adjust the cable free-play barrel located in the middle
of your clutch cable. You may also have one located near the engine where the clutch cable enters
the cases. After lever is installed, adjust the reach by loosening the acorn nut on the lever and
adjusting the set screw to your desired reach. Be sure to re-tighten the acorn nut so it does not
come loose or fall off. Your stock dust cover will cover your new ASV lever (some minor trimming or
use of small zip ties on your dust cover may be required for a perfect fit).

Remove stock clutch assembly, including perch. If you bike has a separate lever for the compression
release or hot start, remove that as well. Install ASV lever and perch to handlebar. Insert “Quick
Adjuster” to perch. Be sure slot on adjuster bolt is facing “UP” or it will not insert into perch.
Unscrew top side of dust cover to allow cable to mount. Install cable into perch and lever. Be sure your
clutch has some free play that can be adjusted by the quick adjuster. If you have too much play or not
enough, you may need to adjust the cable free-play barrel located in the middle of your clutch cable.
You may also have one located near the engine where the clutch cable enters the cases. Now install
compression release /hot start cable to small lever on ASV perch. If the cable is too tight or too loose,
look for an adjuster at the end of the cable near your motor to adjust. After lever is installed, adjust
the reach by loosening the acorn nut on the lever and adjusting the set screw to your desired reach. Be
sure to re-tighten the acorn nut so it does not come loose or fall off. Your stock dust cover will cover
your new ASV lever (some minor trimming or use of small zip ties on your dust cover may be required for a
perfect fit).

Remove stock lever from master cylinder. Remove red adjuster knob by prying off with pliers. Use all the stock
hardware, including the bushing inserted into the stock lever. After installing lever, reinstall red adjuster
knob by pressing it back onto rod. (No glue is necessary) and adjust all the way in. Use ASV adjuster to adjust
reach. Be sure to re-tighten the acorn nut so it does not come loose or fall off. Your stock dust cover will
cover your new ASV lever (some minor trimming of your dust cover may be required for a perfect fit).
