Justin Gibbs and His Journey to MotoAmerica: A Rising Star!

Justin Gibbs and His Journey to MotoAmerica: A Rising Star’s Triumph at CVMA Winter Series Round 6

Chuckwalla Raceway, March 21st-23rd, 2025

The CVMA Winter Series Round 6 at Chuckwalla Raceway this past weekend saw some of the fiercest competition, with packed grids and riders eager to make their mark. Among the standout competitors was young California native, Justin Gibbs (#646), who competed across three intense classes: Expert Super Sport, Expert Formula Open, and the Stock 1000 Shootout.

But, as in any sport, things don't always go as planned. For Justin, it was a weekend filled with adversity that truly tested his resilience and race craft. On Friday, during practice, Justin faced a tough crash that left both him and his bike battered. Reflecting on the incident, he said, “I tucked the front and the bike flipped around several times. My bike was a mess, my confidence was low, and I was left picking up the pieces.” Unfortunately, the crash also meant that Justin wasn't able to qualify, leaving him at a disadvantage with no lap time to showcase his true potential.

However, Justin's spirit was far from broken. Determined to get back on track, he and his crew worked tirelessly overnight, putting his bike back together in time for the next day's races. By Saturday morning, Justin was ready to race, albeit starting from the back of the grid. But it didn't take long for his talent to shine through. His race starts were nothing short of spectacular, and despite the disadvantage, he made his way through the pack with remarkable speed and tenacity.

Throughout the weekend, Justin's performances in the races were nothing short of impressive. Despite the rough start and the crash, he pushed hard, putting himself into contention for podium finishes and proving that determination and skill can overcome even the toughest challenges.

Race Results:

  • Saturday/Sunday:
    • Expert Supersport: 5th and 6th
    • Expert Formula Open: 6th and 3rd (First podium in an expert class at CVMA)
    • Stock 1000 Shootout: 4th ($1000 payday)

At just 26 years old, Justin Gibbs is still a relatively new name on the racing scene, having only been racing for a little over a year. But his rise has been meteoric, much like his speed on the track. In a recent interview, Justin shared his journey, saying, “I fell in love riding my enduro dirt bike on the street and decided I wanted a street bike. This last year has just been a whirlwind.”

Justin’s rapid progress has already earned him his MotoAmerica license, and he has been making waves in the racing world. With impressive results and undeniable talent, he has proven that he is not just another weekend club racer — he’s a serious contender on the professional stage.

With his eyes set on his MotoAmerica rookie debut at Circuit of the Americas (COTA) in September, Justin’s future in the sport is incredibly promising. His raw speed, natural talent, and gritty determination have already turned heads, and there's no doubt he will continue to rise through the ranks.

The future is undeniably bright for Justin Gibbs. Keep an eye out for this young racer, because, like my Camera Lens discovered, he’s a blur on the track — and he's just getting started.
