Brandon Ray Takes Control of the 60th Anniversary of Thursday Night Motocross at Portland International Raceway

Thursday Night Motocross at Portland International Raceway celebrated a major milestone this year, marking its 60th anniversary and earning its place as the longest-running nighttime motocross series in America. With the timing of the event coinciding with the Washougal round of the Outdoor Motocross Championship, the stage was set for an unforgettable night of racing.

The gates were stacked, the competition was fierce, and the crowd at PIR was electric. For Privateer Paddock rider Brandon “B-Ray” Ray, however, the night quickly turned into a dream come true.

Ray came out swinging, putting his ASV-supported machine at the front of the field from the moment the gates dropped. B-Ray holeshot both motos and never looked back. With two dominant wire-to-wire victories, Ray controlled the pace from start to finish and secured the top step of the podium.

The victory was even more impressive considering Ray had only one practice ride on the bike prior to the event at Lake Elsinore. Despite the limited seat time, the privateer was immediately comfortable and put together a flawless night of racing.

“PIR was a great night. I holeshot both motos and won both of them, leading every lap, so it was a solid night. It couldn’t have gotten any better,” said Ray. “I felt really good on the bike, even though I only rode it one practice before that at Lake Elsinore. I’m super stoked to walk away with the win and $4,500 in my pocket.”

For a privateer competing against a stacked field, the result was a massive statement. Ray's perfect 1-1 scorecard showcased his speed, consistency, and ability to perform when the pressure was on.

With momentum building and confidence high, B-Ray and the Privateer Paddock are looking forward to carrying the energy from PIR into the next round of competition.
